Shopwiser respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data when you use our website or mobile application.

1. Introduction

This policy explains how Shopwiser looks after your personal data and outlines your privacy rights.

2. The data we collect
  • Identity data: first name, last name, username, or similar identifier.
  • Contact data: email address and telephone numbers.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser details, device details, and platform information.
  • Usage data: how you use the website and app, including feature usage patterns.
  • Shopping list data: items, categories, and list content needed to provide the service. This is never included in analytics.
  • Community product data: product corrections or additions you submit to improve the shared catalog. This excludes personal list context like notes, prices, or quantities.
2a. Location data

Shopwiser does not collect or transmit your GPS coordinates. When Auto-Pick Store is enabled, the app takes a one-time location reading when you start a shopping session and compares it against your saved stores entirely on-device. No coordinates are sent to our servers at any point. Location access is opt-in and can be enabled or disabled from Privacy & Permissions in Settings.

2b. Analytics

Shopwiser uses PostHog for anonymous usage analytics. Analytics are opt-in and can be disabled from the app's Privacy & Permissions settings.

When analytics are enabled, we collect:

  • App version and platform
  • Feature usage patterns
  • Aggregate counts such as list size
  • Performance and stability signals

We do not collect through analytics:

  • Item names, quantities, prices, or notes
  • List or section names
  • Barcodes or product identifiers
  • Search queries or free-text input
  • Your name, email, or profile information
  • Your location through GeoIP
